Setting Intentions, and Using Them Powerfully

Setting intentions is a powerful practice that every person on this planet, does daily. Intentions are set through language. They are put in action through words and sometimes repetition. Though directs them.

I like looking at the definition of intention. To get a clear picture of what the root of the word means and not just out personal interpretation of the word.

Intention:

The act or fact of intending; determination to do a specified thing or act in a specified manner.

A Life Without Intentions:

Before we discuss how to set intentions Let cover what like is actually like without intentions.

A life without intentions is usually one without direction. You haven’t taken the time to craft what you’d like to have happened in your life. Goals, dreams, what’s important you is all unclear.

You’ll often find yourself going around and around in circles. Perhaps it feels like your trying at life but you’re not getting anywhere.

Life is a constant struggle, pain and confusion when you’re living without direction.

What you’re usually missing in those moments:
  1. Extracting the lessons.
  2. Taking a new step into a new direction.
  3. Letting go of what’s not working.
  4. Setting intentions.
  5. Creating new goals & dreams for yourself.
Ask yourself:

“What am I not doing from day to day to see new result?”

A Life With Intentions:

When we create and a new direction in our lives, our results change drastically.

A life with intentions is usually one that is far more guided and seamless. I’m not saying nothing happens, because there will always be surprises, unfortunate events and some sadness in life. How you deal with those moments will be the ultimate transformation you have. When something bad happens, you’ll extract the lesson, start making better choices and start setting intentions that direct you on your new path.

You will no longer find yourself going around and around in circles again. What you intend will always be at working for you, while you focus on living your life. Things will start to fall in place seamlessly.

Surround yourself with quotes that call out for more abundance in your life!

Setting your intentions allows you to live your life each day & take aligned action towards your dreams and vision that you’ve created, while your intentions do all the heavy lifting and align things for you. When the timing is right, things will fall into place.

Most powerful emotional place:
  1. Set intentions.
  2. Don’t focus on the HOW.
  3. The life you love, do what you love.
  4. Release all expectations and surrender.
  5. Take opportunities that drop in.
  6. Be open always.
  7. Be Learned.

“What new intention do I need to create and place in my life here?”

Intentions Work For You:

Intentions work for you, and a component for their powerful formula is LETTING GO & RELEASING that desire. There is a difference, when you continue working towards an intention, you’re also not releasing the desire and letting things fall into place.

In life it’s important to take action and work for what you’d like to have in your life. That’s what we call every day living.

An intention is a moment of setting a direction then that moment is released into the universe. Intentions don’t work when we keep obsessing and working on them. It’s a faith based proccess.

You keep living, creating and taking ALIGNED action in your life each day. Persist in doing so, just don’t get the two confused, because they’re very different.

Why You Need to Know Your Vision

Your vision is the bigger picture of where you’re heading the life you want to create, the relationships you want to nurture, and the person you want to become. Without a vision, it’s easy to get caught in the cycle of reacting to whatever shows up in the moment, instead of moving forward with clarity and purpose.

Knowing your vision also makes your values more meaningful. If your vision is to live a life of balance and peace, then values like health, boundaries, and connection naturally rise to the surface. And once your vision and values are clear, setting intentions becomes less about guesswork and more about taking aligned, intentional action.

Once you’re clear on your vision, your intentions become the milestones along the way.

Core Values Are the Compass of Intentions

Core values are the foundation for intentions because they act like your personal compass. Here’s how they connect:

1. Values Provide Direction

Core values are the deeply held beliefs that define what matters most to you—things like integrity, freedom, connection, growth, or compassion. Intentions, on the other hand, are choices about how you want to show up in the moment or in life overall. When you set an intention that aligns with your values, you’re ensuring that your actions point in the same direction as what you truly care about.

2. They Prevent Misalignment

Without values as the guide, intentions can become superficial or reactive—for example, setting an intention to “work harder” when your true value is balance and well-being will eventually create tension and burnout. When guided by values, your intentions feel authentic and sustainable.

3. Values Create Meaning

Intentions aren’t just goals—they’re about how you live each day. Aligning them with your values gives your daily actions deeper meaning. For instance, if one of your values is compassion, an intention to “listen fully in my conversations today” becomes a way of living that value.

4. They Build Consistency & Trust

Over time, intentions rooted in core values create consistency in how you act, think, and relate to others. This not only builds self-trust (“I live in alignment with what matters to me”) but also strengthens how others experience you.

Core values = your “why”

Intentions = your “how.”

Values give the direction, intentions are the steps that bring them to life.

Creating Intentions and Their Best Practices!

Below I’ve included the core components of creating intentions for yourself and just remember  your commitment and your word is of high importance in this process.

Intentions are:

  • Directional
  • A Plan
  • An Idea or Aim
  • A Goal
  • In The Moment
  • For The Future
  • Visualization & Target

Start An Intention With:

  • “I’m intending”
  • or “I see” not “I want”
  • “I completed”
  • or “I accomplished.”
  • “I did”
  • or “I’m in the process of”

How To Phrase Them Properly:

  • They are with out a time limit, let the universe guide their results.

  • Setting them can not be specific to a human being “Joe asked me out.”

  • They aren’t focused on the “HOW” “I intend to sell my car by posting it on craigslist.”

  • You’re phrasing a result you see for yourself in your future. Write is as if it’s already completed.

  • Don’t say “I want” because to want means to not have & you’ll never have it. Say “I see”

  • When intention a dollar goal always write a + beside it to not limit the amount you obtain.

  • Your intentions only work for you. For example “My best friend got engaged.” is not a proper intention.

If you start learning how to set intentions clearly in your life, this skill will help you manifest so many desires. it’s not that like will be easier, you will just have more skills in directing yourself which will help you breeze through life issues.

Lastly, How to Effectively Set Intentions

1. Know Your Vision

Get clear on the bigger picture of where you’re heading. Your vision is the North Star that keeps you moving with purpose.

2. Know Your Core Values

Identify what matters most to you. Values act as your compass, ensuring your intentions align with your authentic self.

3. Ask & Intend for What You’d Love to Experience

Frame your intentions around experiences and feelings you want to call in, not just outcomes. This shifts your energy toward expansion.

4. Word Your Intentions Properly

Words carry power. Phrase your intentions in the present tense, positively, and with clarity (e.g., “I choose peace in my daily life” instead of “I don’t want stress”).

5. Take & Live in Aligned Action

Back your intentions with action. Show the universe and yourself that what you’ve declared matters by moving in that direction daily.

6. LET GO

Release expectations, attachments, and the “how.” Trust the process. Intentions work best when they’re paired with surrender.

7. Keep Living in Alignment

Consistently choose thoughts, words, and behaviors that reflect your values and vision.

8. Let Things Drop In for You

Stay open to guidance, synchronicities, and opportunities that show up naturally.

9. Embrace What Comes In

Receive fully. Celebrate the experiences, lessons, and growth that flow your way even if they look different than you imagined.
